Exactly five days after terrorists stormed a school in Kebbi State and abducted female students, another set of deadly terrorists have in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025, stormed St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting over 52 students and teachers.
The mass school abduction reported to have taken place between 2:00am and 4:00am, took place in an area close to Borgu axis of the State, considered to be close to a notorious enclave of terrorists operating around the Kainji Dam.
Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, the Head of Disaster and Relief for Agwara Local Government, while confirming the horrific incident, alongside Bello Gidi, who is the media aide to the Chairman of Agwara Local Government, said the terrorists kidnapped students and some teachers of St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School.
In the words of Gidi; “Yes, it is true that bandits have kidnapped students and teachers at St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State.
“The information reaching us is that they have kidnapped over 100 students and teachers. It is a mixed school with boys and girls,” he said.
It was gathered that the deadly terrorists stormed the school while the students were preparing for morning routines and immediately launched their assault with sporadic gunfire.
While Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the unfortunate incident, a dependable security source,
said that some special operatives and ground troops have been deployed and already trailing the terrorists in an effort to rescue the victims.
The unfortunate incident underscores the continuing threat posed by bandits and terrorist networks across the North-West and North-Central regions, particularly those targeting educational institutions and other soft targets.
