Worrisome: ‘Yahoo Boys’ Storm Abuja Estate Friday Night

Over 40 internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo boys’ on Friday night attempted to breach the security of Mab Global Estate in Abuja but for the resistance of the security personnel at the main entrance gate of the estate.

The Yahoo boys who were dressed in white, made spirited effort to force their way into the estate at about 11:45pm, but were resisted by a team of security personnel that quickly mobilized and frontally confronted the fraudsters.

When they were initially confronted, the ‘Yahoo boys’ were unable to mention or specifically identified the particular house they were headed to within the estate which arose the curiosity of the estate security men that refused them entry.

Not done, the ‘Yahoo boys’ left, mobilized and returned few minutes later at about 2:30am with a larger team in a convoy of 15 cars, conveying over 40 people all wearing  clothes.

One of the security personnel explained that the ‘Yahoo boys’ who were carrying leather bags, were very aggressive and were determined to force themselves inside the estate by insisting that they were going to attend a birthday party at a house on Gold Street, adding that the particular residence is however within the vicinity of the Embassy of the Democratic Arab Republic inside the estate.

He further said that it was at that stage that he and his colleagues mobilized and formed a strong resistance force against the fraudsters by insisting that the house they mentioned is a private residence and not a commercial building.

The security man said that in spite of their explanation, the ‘Yahoo boys’ remained adamant and insisted that the gate must be opened and started struggling with the estate security personnel.

Speaking on the matter, the Estate’s Chief Security Officer, Denis Omala, said he had to moved fast and mobilized in all his men numbering over 50 to prevent the fraudsters from breaching security and disrupting the peace of the estate.

He also said that the estate’s leadership had to rush to the gate late in the night to ensure that the ‘Yahoo boys’ were prevented from gaining access to the entrance against the backdrop of the fact that their intentions were not clear
