WTO DG Contest: Winner Yet To Be Announced – Dr. Okonjo-Iweala

BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – The race for the position of the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) is still very much on.

One of the two selected for the top most job of the WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala stated this on Friday, saying that contrary to inaccurate information released online by an unidentified source, she has not yet been declared winner.

A statement by her Media Adviser, Paul C. Nwabuikwu explained that as announced by WTO, the former managing director of the World Bank Dr. Okonjo-Iweala and South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee are the final two contestants left in the race.

Nwabuikwu said the winner is expected to be announced in two to three weeks, adding that this remains the correct position.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala expressed appreciation for the support adding that she is energised by the enthusiastic support of Nigerians and urged all to keep praying until the final whistle.
