You Will Remain Restless – Fubara Taunts Wike
BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has vowed to make the camp of his estranged political godfather and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, perpetually restless and uncomfortable.
It has been from one crisis to another in the oil-rich state since Sir Fubara got on the bad side of his benefactor, Wike over issues concerning governance business in Rivers State.
Governor Fubara, who spoke on Thursday at the ground-breaking of the Automobile Spare Parts Market in Port Harcourt, the state capital, described as fake the purported list of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee members for the State that has been circulating on social media.
According to him, the list which contains some names identified as the immediate past Governor’s supporters is a clear manipulation and the handiwork of cheap publicity seekers and agents of crisis in the State.
He said at the occasion; “I know that many of you saw something flying on social media and national dailies. Let me brief you properly. We had a meeting, and agreed, not just in Rivers State, but in all the affected States that the Executive Councils (of PDP) should be extended for three months.
“This extension is not meant to bring in new names. The extension also did not say that you are working without the authority of the Governor. So, for those lists that you saw and those altered, I can assure you that they will not stand.
“For record purposes, so that you will understand, we also agreed that there is going to be a NEC meeting on the 18th of this month (April) that should ratify that decision.
“So, what you are seeing is the handiwork of desperate people who like media publicity. In fact, empty drums make the loudest noise. So, don’t bother about anything. Nothing is happening.”
While alluding to the anxiety and fear that has now gripped those he called his detractors based on the warning issued days ago that he will surprise those who dare him, Governor Fubara assured that going forward actions by his administration would continue to make such people feel restless and uncomfortable in Rivers State.
He said Rivers State must be protected from tyranny by all its well-meaning sons and daughters as well as other stakeholders, adding the State’s very important status was the reason behind his Administration’s decision to choose the path of peace towards engendering progress and development for the people
Throwing a strong jab at his political opponents, Governor Fubara further said; “You can see how restless they have been since I made just one statement, yesterday. We will continue to make them restless. They won’t know where we are coming from.
“We will also continue to hit them hard the way we hit them, yesterday. So, those of you who were worried when you saw those lists that were flying, go and rest, nothing is happening.”
