Youth Group Raises Alarm Over Non-conduct of APC Primaries In Plateau
BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – Some concerned Youths of Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State have expressed concern and disappointment over the non-conduct of party primaries in the Council.
The primaries were scheduled to hold on June 23, 2021 and to be supervised by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Nimkong Lar.
Leader of the group, Joseph Bukurson said that party supporters were surprised by the deceitful development in which the party’s elections for Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates were not held in Mikang Local Government Area.
According to Bukurson; “Aspirants in all the 18 electoral wards headquarters that make up the Local Government came out as early as 8.00am waiting for the arrival of the electoral Committee but to no avail.
“Supporters and party faithful were stationed at their various wards waiting for the conduct of the primary election but the committee never showed up at the venue,”” he said.
Efforts made to reach the 3-man Electoral Committee headed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Nimkong Lar, proved abortive as not even telephone calls could get through to them.
Bukurson also said that the Committee in collaboration with certain power-wielding individuals attempted to announce an unknown individual as winner of an election that was never conducted.
The youth leader said categorically that primary elections never held in Mikang on June 23 or on any other date and therefore want to draw the attention of the leader of the party, who is the State governor, Hon Simon Bako Lalong, the entire party leadership and all teeming supporters of the party to stop attempts to murder democracy in Plateau State.
Bukurson said the group has pleaded with its supporters to remain calm and strong as all efforts will be made to ensure the right thing is done to save the Party from disintegration.
