ZAAR Youths Commence Retreat On ‘Retracing Our Values’
BY KALMANA AFSA, BAUCHI – Concerned about what they describe as alien to the norms and values of the ZAAR youths of Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of Bauchi state, stakeholders are poised to change the ugly narrative.
The retreat of the youth with the theme “Retracing Our Values” is put together by a firm- ‘Ideas and People’ with support from Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Councils.
The Retreat among other things is to brainstorm, build capacity of the Youth Ambassadors to step down the training, change their perception on emerging issues and give them skills to think outside the box.
In their separate messages, the Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Hon. Iliya Habila and his counterpart from Tafawa Balewa Hon. Musa Mazadu Daniel, lamented the decay in the society nothing that there is a generational gap which must be bridged for individual transformation and community development.
They noted that even in the midst of the eroding values, all hope is not lost hence, the retreat is timely and will go a long way in addressing the challenges.
They cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be vessels in the hands of unpatriotic elements, rather they should unite for the good of ZAAR land.
Declaring the three day retreat Ope, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Jidauna Mbami Tula told the Youth that they are ambassadors, they should be change agents when they get back to their various communities, pursue their education with determination and adopt entrepreneurship skill to be self-reliant.
Speaking in turn, the convener of the retreat, Mr Bedworm Elias Bogoro said that the retreat will empower the youth with skills to think outside the box for individual transformation and community development, adding that they are expected to replicate the Knowledge and also change their perception.
They were goodwill messages from Dr Bello Abdulmumuni Munza and Dr Yusuf Luka Gambo both of University of Maiduguri.
The 64 participants are drawn from Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas.
