BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The founder, Zamani Foundation, Mrs Philomena Henry Zamani, has expressed the hope of women realizing their full potentials and work towards achieving them for their betterment in no distant future.
Mrs. Zamani, who stated this in Kaduna at a two day workshop on, “Restoring The Dignity Of women,” noted that the womenfolk have been under a serious burden just as the society does not attach much value to them thereby being relegated to the background.
She described the theme as strategic in looking at the women folks, the many burdens they carry and the way the society perceives them.
Zamani expressed also the hope that women would come to an understanding of who they really are and stand up with their heads high to fulfill their purpose in life.
She therefore urged women not to limit themselves, but avail themselves to all what the conference holds for them as a prelude to a great and permanent movement out of their present situations.
In her own remarks, Mrs Esther Yohanna talked extensively on how women could be restored to realise their potentials, saying that time has come for women to face the true reality of life in order to add value to their lives.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs Comfort Bangoji, who spoke on the purpose of a woman, said that the woman has a great role to play in making the society a better place by contributing positively to its development.
Mrs Nana Abba Gbolahan, who spoke on Intimate Divine matters, Sexuality and Development, called on women to be up to their responsibilities in order to fulfill the purpose of God upon their lives.
The participants were excited with all they learnt and thanked the Zamani Foundation for its commitments and consistency in always empowering women especially in leaving no stone unturned in building their capacities.
The plenary sessions had topics on Sexual/Gender based violence, Gender equality, women in politics, women in Purdah/Islam, Women in the Church, Women in the society, Women in the frontline and Women peace and security.
The conference ended with the next steps and commitments by both participants and Zamani Foundation to ensure they continue pursuing programmes and projects that are meant to add value to womanhood.
