Zamfara Deputy Gov. Aide Accuses Matawalle Of N31bn Misappropriation
…Challenges him on insecurity, infrastructural projects
The Principal Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mr Aminu Umar Game-game has challenged Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to explain to the public how he spent over Thirty-one billion Naira he collected in 31 months.
Umar pointedly said that all is not well in the State as Governor Matawalle has chosen the path of enriching himself as against providing the needed developmental projects that would benefit the people of the state.
He specifically called on Matawalle to give detailed explanation on how he utilized the huge amount of money he collected as security vote, cash allocation to his office, that of his Principal Private Secretary and the Government House in 31 months.
Umar noted that in 31 months of Matawalle’s administration, he collect six hundred million Naira (N600,000,000.00) as ‘security vote’ monthly; Three Hundred and Fifty million Naira as ‘Cash Allocation’ for his office; Thirty million Naira for the office of his PPS and Thirty million Naira as cash allocation for Government House, totaling over one point one billion Naira monthly. He said that if the money collected is multiplied by 31 months, it will add up to N31,310,000,000:00.
Umar equally berated Matawalle for not executing any meaningful project in the state, saying that instead of creating confusions in a state that is suffering from terrorism and cannot even take care of the helpless internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) beside other critical challenges bedeviling the State.
He also accused Matawalle of crippling all sectors in the state, adding that the education sector has gone down as the governor refused to pay the examination fees for WAEC, NECO and others thereby putting the teaming youths to an uncertainty and jeopardizing their future ambitions.
Umar also challenged the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, who he alleged collects N60 million cash allocation monthly amounting to One billion, seven hundred and forty-four million Naira in 29 months without proper accounts.
He also said that his principal received N590 million in 19 months before Governor Matawalle directed a stop to giving cash allocation to his office.
According to him, before then he received N30 million monthly for the 19 months which used to sponsor 300 students studying at the Zamfara Collage of Arts and Science (ZACAS) and 200 students in Collage of Education, Maru.
He further said that others include the 100 students in Collage of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, 28 in Al Bidayatul Jameelah, Kaduna.
Umar also said; “Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu also sponsored some of the students to study abroad, 10 in Ghana; 23 in Niger Republic, seven in Togo among others.
“The deputy governor used the cash allocation to support 120 people for medical treatment, 2,300 persons for livelihood assistance and 23 persons benefitted for marriage assistance since inception. Since inception, the deputy governor dedicated his salary for service to humanity and had vowed to make good use of the cash allocation,” he said.
