2017 Carnival Calabar: Information Minister Kicks-off Dry Run Oct 22

BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed is expected to storm Calabar, the Cross River State capital on Sunday, October 22, 2017 to flag off the first dry run for 2017 edition of Carnival Calabar tagged “Migration“.

Slated to commence at 12 noon, Alhaji Mohammed will be supported at the occasion by Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade; Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu; Members of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.

Others on line to grace the event are Secretary to the Cross River State Government; Members of the State Executive Council, all political appointees at various levels; Leaders of the five competing and non-competing Bands, as well as interested members of the public.

According to the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs RoseMary Effiom Archibong, all the competing Bands in this year’s Carnival are requested to assemble at their various muster points, adding that there will be restriction of vehicular movement on some roads within the Calabar metropolis to ensure a smooth flag off ceremony by the Minister

Mrs Archibong said in Calabar that the affected roads include Calabar Road, Mary Slessor Avenue, Marian Road, MCC Road and Murtala Muhammed Highway, leading to the U. J. Esuene Stadium.

The statement urged members of the public to note this arrangement and avoid being trapped in vehicular traffic around the designated routes and areas.
