2019 Elections: EFCC Raises Alarm Over Fake Dollars In Circulation

BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday raised alarm over the circulation of fake United State dollar notes ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a statement signed by the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, said the alert follows intelligence gathered in the build up to the elections.

Magu explained that the intelligence indicates that the dollar notes have features of genuineness, adding however that forensic analysis by the Commission revealed otherwise.

The EFCC therefore warned the Bureau De Change (BDC), operators to be cautious in their transactions from now till the end of the elections.
