2019 Guber Poll: INEC Declares 22 States, APC 13 – PDP 9
BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – Election results so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the 29 States Gubernatorial and 36 States House of Assembly elections across Nigeria indicate that the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) is leading in 13 States.
The collated results as at Tuesday morning, March 12, showed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) making huge impact with its impressive victories recorded in nine States.
Though the APC lost Imo and Oyo States to the PDP in interesting circumstances, it recorded victories in Gombe and Kwara States with its candidates’ remarkable showing during the March 9 poll.
Meanwhile, the electoral umpire, INEC has declared the exercise inconclusive in six states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto.
The Commission, which cited cancelled votes and margins of winning votes between the leading candidates and runners-up in the elections for its decision, is expected to announce a new date for re-run polls in the affected states soon.
However, Rivers, which is the 29th State that the governorship elections should have taken place had INEC suspending the exercise mid-way due to obvious security threats to its electoral officials, violence and disruption of the process by some political thugs.
Below are the states, parties and governors-elect as announced by INEC
