United States President, Donald Trump early on Wednesday morning threw up allegations of ‘fraud’ in the 2020 presidential election, and also claimed victory without official declaration of results by the country’s electoral commission.

“This is a fraud on the American public,” the president said at the White House, adding; “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.”

Going by results so far released, the President is still a long shot from winning re-election with key swing states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin remaining too close to call.

However, a clearly ruffled Trump has vowed to approach the Supreme Court to contest the election results.

According to him; “We will be going to the US supreme court. We want all voting to stop.”

Expressing confidence about winning Pennsylvania, as the state continues to count ballots, the President said at the White House; “Most importantly we’re winning Pennsylvania by a tremendous amount of votes,.”

But again, there are many outstanding votes in Pennsylvania, and it’s still unclear who has won the pivotal swing state.

Eager to declare victory in battleground states that remain too close to call, such as Georgia and North Carolina, President Trump was simultaneously urging Arizona to count more ballots in the hopes that it would reverse Joe Biden’s current lead.

However, reacting to President Trump’s statement, Journalist Aaron Rupar tweeting (@atrupar) said; “So Trump wants all the ballots to be tallied in Arizona (where he’s trailing) but not in Pennsylvania (where he’s leading). Completely shameless.”

Meanwhile, election officials in key swing states continue to count valid ballots, and that process could continue for days before results are officially declared.

Biden camp calls Trump statement ‘outrageous’
Trump vs Bien in close race

The camp of Democratic Party presidential candidate, Joe Biden has described President Trump’s public statement as ‘outrageous’

“The President’s statement tonight about trying to shut down the counting of duly cast ballots was outrageous, unprecedented, and incorrect,” said Biden Campaign Manager, Jen O’Malley Dillon in a statement:

“It was outrageous because it is a naked effort to take away the democratic rights of American citizens.

“It was unprecedented because never before in our history has a president of the United States sought to strip Americans of their voice in a national election. Having encouraged Republican efforts in multiple states to prevent the legal counting of these ballots before Election Day, now Donald Trump is saying these ballots can’t be counted after Election Day either.

“And it was incorrect because it will not happen. The counting will not stop. It will continue until every duly cast vote is counted. Because that is what our laws — the laws that protect every Americans’ constitutional right to vote — require.

“We repeat what the Vice President said tonight: Donald Trump does not decide the outcome of this election. Joe Biden does not decide the outcome of this election.

“The American people will decide the outcome of this election. And the democratic process must and will continue until its conclusion.” – With The Guardian reports
