2023: APC Woos More Defectors From PDP, Gov Ishaku’s Cabinet
- Says exodus imminent in March 2022
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – With heightening political engagements and stakeholders’ activities taking the centre stage, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Taraba State insists a political tsunami will soon hit the state ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Darius Ishaku-led administration within the next month.
Claiming that his party is expecting massive defections into its fold from PDP, the State APC Chairman, Ibrahim El-Sudi, said the move by former Senate Deputy Minority leader, Emmanuel Bawacha and some key persons from PDP to APC earlier this month has strengthened its chances of taking over the state come 2023.
Speaking while playing host to an aspirant for Taraba South Senatorial seat, David Jimkuta and his supporters at the APC secretariat in Jalingo, Ibrahim El-Sudi said; “President Muhammadu Buhari himself was the one that received Senator Emmanuel Bwacha into the party and I am telling you that a lot of people are still coming into the APC even from the cabinet in Taraba state.”
According to him; “From next month you would see a massive exodus of people joining APC because they are not satisfied with what is happening in the state. This is because a lot of them are disenchanted and feel that the only place they can realize their dreams of developing Taraba state is by moving to the APC.”
The APC chairman, who said the party is more united now than ever, assured that all aspirants would be given equal opportunities and a level playing field to vie for offices without any discrimination.
In his remarks, the Senatorial aspirant, David Jimkuta said the visit to the party‘s secretariat with his supporters was meant to formally indicate interest in seeking the APC ticket for the Taraba South Senatorial seat.
Noting that the party’s chances of gaining more follower-ship in the zone is bright with his position, Jimkuta said all machineries would be put in motion to ensure the APC becomes the favourite party in the area.
On his aspiration, Jimkuta said it was a way of answering the call by people in Taraba south who consider him the most qualified to represent them at the upper legislative chamber come 2023.
He pledged to bring quality representation to the zone, with the creation of more jobs, enhanced human and capital development if elected as the next Senator for the district.
