BY VICTOR BUORO – National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, says the Federal High Court in Abuja, dismissal of a suit challenging the Party’s leadership represents another milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The Court had dismissed the contentious suit filed by a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, for lacking merit.

A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, quoted Mark as noting that the ruling has vindicated the ADC’s commitment to multi-party democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law.

According to the former Senate President, democracy could only flourish when political parties are allowed to operate without intimidation or undue interference from the government in power.

Mark also commended the judiciary for upholding justice and reaffirmed ADC’s commitment to providing purposeful leadership as a credible opposition platform in the country.

He said the judgement represents not only a victory for the ADC but also for democracy and every Nigerian who believes in a competitive political system.

Consequently, the ADC Chairman tasked party members and supporters to remain united and focused on building a stronger and more inclusive nation.

Also reacting to the court ruling, the ADC governorship candidate in Plateau State, Brigadier General John Sura (rtd), described the judgement as a morale booster for the party.

He expressed confidence that the ruling would further strengthen public confidence in the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections and encourage more Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the party.
