2023 Elections: We’ll Bring On Board All Aggrieved PDP Members – Atiku

BY VICTOR BOURO – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar insists that having retraced its steps from the past mistakes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will bring all aggrieved members on board as the party seeks to reclaim power at the centre come 2023.

He said the country’s main opposition party is leaving nothing to chance and will continue working assiduously towards regaining its lost glory and the confidence of Nigerians given the disastrous governance credentials of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP Presidential flag bearer, who was in Gombe State for a wedding ceremony, used the occasion to open a campaign office dedicated to his 2023 aspiration of becoming Nigeria’s number one citizen.

Reports indicate that the office complex and about 10 space wagon campaign vehicles were donated to the Atiku/Okowa’s Presidential campaign Council by Jamilu Ishaku, who emerged as the first runner-up in the 2023 PDP gubernatorial election in Gombe State.

Speaking with journalists at the Sani Abacha International Airport Gombe, the Wazirin Adamawa described the chances of the PDP in the forthcoming general elections as quite high due not only to its impeccable record but also the poor showing of APC in over seven years in office.

Atiku, who acknowledged that the PDP lost in 2015 due to what he termed political mistakes and miscalculations, which the party has recovered from, said; “PDP is a very popular party and it is the oldest party in Nigeria. We have realised that we made mistakes.”

He said despite the growing misgivings and internal wranglings within the main opposition party, continuous efforts are on at all levels to ensure the PDP does not approach next year’s elections as a divided house.

Going personal, the former Vice President said; “I’m still talking to aggrieved members of the party and I believe at the end of the day we will work together.”
