2023: I’m Afraid Of Wike, I Can’t Go Back To Rivers State – Amaechi
Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has claimed that he is afraid of his home state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Speaking during a Channels Television interview, the Minister said as things are presently, returning to Rivers State is not part of his agenda in the short or medium term.
When asked if he would return to Rivers State to help his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) wrestle power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, Amaechi said he is not thinking about that because of Governor Wike’s fear factor.
Reminded that Governor Wike has stamped his feet on the politics of Rivers state and that charity begins at home, the Transportation Minister said, “My eyes are here in Abuja”.
In the words of Amaechi; “This is my home now. Abuja is now my home and my governor is the Minister of the FCT. I live and do business here.”
Asked if he had any plans of going back to Rivers State being his local base, Amaechi said; “When we reach the bridge, we’ll cross it. For now, the FCT Minister is my Governor.”
Pressed to comment on his being afraid of Governor Wike, Amaechi said, “Yes. I’m very afraid of him. I’m very afraid”.
Probed further to know why he is afraid of his successor, Amechi responded saying; “Because I’m a ‘fear fear man’ now. What’s your problem? When we get to the bridge we will cross the bridge”
