2023: Lawan Out, As Court Affirms Machina As Authentic Candidate Of APC For Yobe North Senatorial Seat

A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe state on Wednesday declared Bashir Sheriff Machina as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for Yobe North senatorial seat for the 2023 National Assembly elections.

The Court upheld the May 28, 2022 APC primary election in which Machina emerged as the senatorial candidate of the party and rejected the nomination of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, who did not participate in the primary.

Accordingly, the court presided over by Justice Fadimatu Murtal Aminu, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to accept and publish the name of Bashir Shariff Machina as the candidate of the APC.

Justice Aminu in her judgment on the matter, affirmed Machina as the duly and validly elected candidate for APC.

With the judgement of the Federal High Court, Senator Ahmad Lawan has lost the struggle to claim the Yobe North senatorial seat on the platform of the APC.
