2023 Polls: It’s Time We Reward Gov Ortom, Other PDP Candidates — Media Aide
- Seeks support from Benue people
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – With the countdown to this year’s general elections taking centre stage in the polity, the Special Adviser to the Benue state Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Terver Akase has urged the people of the state to consider the good works of Governor Samuel Ortom and reward him appropriately with victory in the Senatorial polls.
According to the media aide, having sacrificed his all for the good, safety, and well-being of the people, it is now time for the electorate to reward him and all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates with their votes in the forthcoming polls.
Akase spoke at the weekend while hosting the elders, women, youths, party supporters, and several other groups in the Ayihe community of Ugondo, Fiidi Ward, Makurdi Local Government Area, LGA, to canvass support for PDP candidates in the state, including Governor Ortom and the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer, Titus Uba.
The Special Adviser, who was accompanied by his wife Jessica, engaged the people at the Ayihe market square, saying the meeting was to celebrate the New Year together; have a family discussion; and also appreciate them for being good hosts to him, his family as well as other settlers in the community.
He noted that the Governor “has constructed many township roads in Makurdi and is committed to doing more, including the road that runs from Yina Junction through Ayihe to Yaikyor.”
Furthermore, Akase said the Governor has already approved a transformer for the community and the Ministry of Rural Development would soon make the same available in order to improve the electricity supply to the people.
Urging the people to “consider the good works of Governor Ortom, who is your son, and all the sacrifices he has made for the good, safety and wellbeing of the generality of our people”, the Media Aide said voting him into the Senate as the voice of Benue people would show their appreciation of the governor’s good works.
He also used the forum to canvass support for Rt. Hon Titus Uba as the incoming Governor; as well as Hon. Benjamin Mzondo and Dickson Igbe, gunning for seats to serve the people in the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly respectively.
Also speaking at the occasion, Mrs Jessica Akase expressed appreciation to the people for the support given to her husband and encouraged them to work for the victory of PDP candidates in the state to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
On his part, the Benue State PDP governorship candidate, Mr Uba, represented by his aide, Jacob Angor, described Mr. Akase as an asset to the PDP in the state and urged the Ugondo people to rally around him for the party’s electoral triumph.
Appreciating the community’s support and always voting for PDP in the past, Uba expressed confidence that they would do so again in the coming elections and promised not to disappoint them when elected as governor come March this year.
In their separate goodwill messages at the forum, PDP Chairman for Makurdi Local Government Area, Alhaji Yunusa Garba; Fiidi Ward party Chairman, Emmanuel Iornumbe; Solomon Akaaior for youth, and Woman Leader, Rebecca Orban, assured the people that the party is parading the best candidates and they have no other choice than to back all of them at the polls.
For Hon. Mzondo, represented by Collins Waku; Hon. Igbe represented by Francis Achiv, Director General Uba/Ngbede Campaign Organization; and Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa, represented by the PDP campaign Coordinator for Makurdi LGA, Hon. Terver Kighir, the people have all the good reasons to support PDP’s candidates in the forthcoming elections and cautioned them to beware of deceit from opposition parties.
A key feature of the event, graced by elders, women, and youth groups, was the Media aide’s donation of cash and other gift items to the people in the spirit of the Yuletide.
