BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – A Gubernatorial aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s platform in Cross River State, Ambassador Wilfred Bonse, says the party has the grassroots appeal to reclaim its stolen mandate from Governor Ben Ayade-led All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2023 general elections.

According to Bonse, despite the governor’s ill-advised defection, the PDP still has the structures and capacity to win elections across the length and breadth of the South-South state

Speaking after storming the party secretariat to submit his nomination and expression of interest form in Abuja on Monday, the aspirant said tenure-barred Governor Ayade’s presence in the APC notwithstanding, PDP remains the party to beat at the polls.

Ambassador Bonse, who is the Principal Partner/Chief Executive Officer of Omni-Gold Concepts Consulting, expressed readiness to take on all comers at the party’s primary, noting that feelers from the state-wide consultations with party stakeholders indicate that his candidacy has been widely accepted across the state.

Taunting the ruling APC to expect humiliating electoral defeat come 2023, Bonse said; “Make no mistake, Cross River is going back to PDP. Our preparations did not start now, we have watched with keen interest, the retrogression that bedeviled our state, especially with the defection of status from being a PDP state to now an APC state.

“The preparations are not in the talking, we are prepared to work that talk. We are ready to do whatever it takes. We have the resources and the intellectual capacity.”

For the man, who presides over Fortune Network Multipurpose Cooperative Society, given the opportunity to manage the affairs of Cross River as its elected Chief Executive, poverty eradication would be pursued on all fronts with the tourism sector also primed to enjoy the required turnaround boost for the overall economic good of the State.

“Tourism is going to be an aspect of the capacity of Cross River to generate wealth so we are going to expand it,” Bonse said, even as he pledged to harness the endowed resources and economic potential of the State for jobs and employment creation for its teeming youths.

Hear him; “From the very first year, we are going to make the world come to Cross River state and take Cross River to the world. Cross River has everything that Nigeria needs to launch it on the world map. From the sea, we have oil, we have mineral resources, and we have the capacity to feed Africa.”

While also promising to focus on increasing the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as the elected governor, the aspirant said; “We (Cross River State) have so much and we are going to make sure everything works together”.
