BY EDMOND ODOK – With just days to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s National convention and presidential primaries, The Progressive Project (TPP) has again affirmed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo remains the best man for the job come next year’s general elections.
Two leading lights of TTP, the umbrella body of the Osinbajo’s support group, former Kano State Governor, Senator Kabiru Gaya, and Presidential aide, Senator Babafemi Ojudu maintained that the Vice President is the aspirant to beat for the APC presidential ticket.
Speaking immediately after their principal was screened by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led screening panel, Senator Gaya, who is the Director-General of Osinbajo Campaign Organization (OCO), said; “We are impressed by his qualifications and experience. He has been in the system for so many years as the vice president and he has acted also as a president.
“So he’s the most experienced aspirant in this race. We believe that he will be a candidate for the APC general elections and he is the only candidate that can beat Atiku Abubakar. That I’m sure of.”
According to the former governor, of all the aspirants currently in the presidential race, Professor Osinbajo’s pedigree and towering credentials put him in a good position to easily trounce Atiku and the PDP at the polls.
He said urged the Party to make the right choice by choosing a man that would readily give the APC victory at the 2023 general elections and also effortlessly continues with the good works of President Muhammadu Buhari going forward.
On his part, Senator Ojudu, who is a Presidential aide in the Vice President’s office, said Prof Osinbajo “has all it takes to be President of Nigeria and we are ready whichever way it goes”.
Urging the party leadership to be fair, just, and equitable in its “organization of the convention”, Ojudu said at the moment, the screening panel is fair to all the aspirants.
Speaking further, Senator Ojudu said; “In the history of Nigeria and primaries in this country, there is nobody that has campaigned as the Vice President did. We went to 36 states, including the FCT. He did not only take questions from everyone, he stood up to answer those questions.
“And after doing so, he took photographs with every individual and each of the delegates present at those events. So, you can see that he is determined and prepared. He has done his homework, and he is not taking our Party members for granted. And he wants to let them know his vision, his agenda, and what he will do, you know, not just for this country, but even for them as members of the party, if and when he is elected”.
