2023 Presidency: South-East APC Aspirants In Closed-door Meeting
Presidential aspirants of Igbo extraction on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s platform are currently holding a closed-door meeting at the Maitama District, Abuja home of Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Competent sources hinted that those attending the meeting include former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu; former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani; and former Imo State governor, Okorocha; as well as the only female aspirant, Ken-Ohanenye, who is a legal practitioner.
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi who was expected to be in attendance failed to show up with an aide to the meeting host explaining that an emergency suddenly came up.
The aide, who did not want his name in print said Governor Umahi had earlier confirmed his attendance the emergency saw him hurrying back to Abakaliki, the State capital.
Though the meeting agenda was not made available to the prying eyes of journalists or party stakeholders by the time of filling this report, it was reliably gathered that the aspirants are already tilting towards a consensus candidate from the South-East geopolitical zone to do battle with their opponents from the other zones.
Insiders also hinted that the aspirants are considering issuing a media statement on the outcome of what a source described as their “heart-to-heart engagement” on the bubbling political developments within the party and the polity.
More to come shortly…
