2023: Tambuwal Clarifies Comments On Zoning PDP Presidential Ticket
- Denies demeaning South-South Govs, Presidential hopefuls
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has described as an unfortunate misrepresentation of facts his comments on the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket.
Insisting that he was quoted out of context, Governor Tambuwal said reports in the media utterly misrepresented the facts as they were said.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Muhammad Bello, the governor, said the reports wrongly portrayed him as demeaning the South-South Governors or any aspirant from the region with insinuations that they cannot win the Presidency for the opposition PDP.
The statement claimed that “Both the headline and what follows are misrepresentation and mis-presentation of the facts as they were.
“There were no innuendo or ‘veiled’ reference by Governor Tambuwal to any statement made or credited to the South-south Governors during his reunion meeting with former states and federal legislators at the Fraiser Suites in Abuja today.
“He didn’t say the PDP or his colleagues, the South-south Governors or any aspirant from the region cannot win PDP Presidency.”
The Sokoto State Chief Executive maintained that the said report is simply aforethought and should therefore be disregarded by all well-meaning Nigerians and PDP supporters across the country.
