2023: We’ve A Joker Should APC Denies Tinubu Ticket – Party Chieftain

AKANI OLUSEGUN, IBADAN – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Hon. Shaeed Akinade-Fijabi has hinted that owing to the unpredictable nature of the members of the party, there might be an emergence of third party as a joker to counter any attempt by the party to deny Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu the presidential ticket in 2023.

Akinade-Fijabi, who was a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, said that the third party which would be available for Tinubu should the APC failed to give him ticket, adding that it would surprise both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC in 2023  

Akinade-Fijabi, who gave the hint during a radio programme in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Saturday, said that he is certain that the third party that would automatically favour of Tinubu would challenge and put both the APC and PDP in an uncomfortable position.

The former lawmaker who was reacting to the possibilities of Asiwaju Tinubu not emerging as Nigeria’s next president, said that the supporters of Tinubu are not sleeping, thus ready to take on any move against the former governor of Lagos State.

Akinade-Fijabi, who represented Ibadan Northwest/Southwest on the platform of the APC in the House of Representatives in the 7th and 8th Assembly said that the contribution of Tinubu to the growth of APC cannot be wished away by anyone, stressing that without Tinubu, the APC couldn’t had captured power in 2015.

In his words; “Our people are unpredictable. So, there might be an emergence of third party to counter the two existing ones (PDP and APC) if Asiwaju Tinubu is denied presidential ticket by APC in 2023.”

The former lawmaker also said that the APC would come back better during the 2023 election in Oyo State as reconciliation is currently ongoing to unify all the aggrieved members.
