2023: Wike Cannot Influence How Rivers People Will Vote – Peterside
…Says, Rivers people are politically conscious
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State in 2015, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has declared that Governor Nyesom Wike cannot influence how the people of the state would vote in the 2023 General Elections.
This was as he said that Nigerians are unanimous that 2023 General Election will be about character, competence and service delivery and not going to be about ethnicity.
Peterside, who also Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration And Safety Agency (NIMASA),
Governor Wike prefer to fret away the resources of the State junketing abroad in search of personal relevance that will not add any value to Rivers state and her people.
He said that the people of Rivers State are too sophisticated and politically conscious as well as know their true and genuine leaders who have their interest at heart as against someone taking advantage of the economic situation in the country to embarrass them.
He therefore cautioned Governor Wike to stop embarrassing the concerned people of Rivers State, stressing that the people of state now see beyond Wike’s antics and self-delusion.
Peterside, who stated these at a rally in Opobo, headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area on Thursday, said the past seven years have been the worst eras in Rivers owing to “leadership driven by selfish interest and unbridled ego”.
Peterside further said; “Rivers people know who their true leaders are; not those who presently take advantage of the harsh economic situation to hoodwink and turn them into articles of political and financial merchandise.
“The ordinary Rivers man and woman were left out of governance while those in authority enriched themselves, appropriated the people’s commonwealth and shamelessly brandished even that which they stole, before the people. Rivers people never had it this bad,” he said.
Peterside also said that the Opobo and Nkoro ethnic groups were one of the most politically enlightened stocks in Rivers, adding that they should not be allow anyone to deceive or blackmail them with any Greek gift.
In his words; “Opobo/Nkoro people are one of the most politically enlightened stocks in Rivers State and no one can deceive us with a Greek gift.
“Governor Wike had the opportunity of developing Opobo-Nkoro in the past seven years but, did not do it.
We will remind our people how much Wike and his cohorts failed them and why we cannot continue in that trajectory.
“Opobo- Nkoro people know that a competent governor with a character they would be proud of would be superior to brandishing ethnic sentiment,” he enthused.
