…declare unflinching support for Tinubu
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) rose from a crucial meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, declaring that its members would have nothing whatsoever to do with the political arrangement under the guise of “coalition”.
The resolution of the APC Governors is seen as a direct attack on the ‘Rainbow Coalition” political arrangement put in place by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Forum specifically ruled out supporting any political coalition or candidate outside the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who announced the decision shortly after a meeting of the APC governors held in Abuja on Monday night, pointedly said that they will not participate in any political arrangement that could weaken President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or affect APC candidates contesting governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.
Uzodimma affirmed that members of the forum remain fully committed to the APC and would work together to ensure the party records victories in future elections.
The APC governors specifically said that no coalition outside the APC would receive their support or endorsement, adding that even though the party has a national campaign structure, APC governors would take the lead in mobilising support for President Tinubu in their respective states.
Uzodimma emphasized that the resolve of the APC governors reflected their commitment to party unity and loyalty as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The Forum chairman further reaffirmed the governors’ resolve to stand behind the APC and President Tinubu, stressing that the party remains focused on retaining power in the next general elections.
