Atiku, who was accompanied on the visit by the former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, and Senator Abdul Ningi met Chief Obasanjo at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta.

The agenda of the meeting was however not disclosed even as it was speculated that it had to do with the present style of governance in the country and possible strategies to be adopted to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku, who came second in the 2023 presidential election by losing to President Bola Tinubu of the APC, deputized former President Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007.
