The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad confirmed Tuggar’s resignation on Monday, March 30, 2026, in a post on his X account.
Tuggar reportedly submitted his resignation on Monday which was expected to be read at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The outgoing Foreign Affairs minister has ambition for the 2027 Governorship seat in Bauchi State.
According to Ahmad; “The Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, will bid farewell to the Federal Executive Council today as he steps down from his position to pursue the governorship of Bauchi State”.
Tuggar’s resignation comes barely hours before the deadline set by President Tinubu, who directed his appointees seeking elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign on or before March 31, 2026.
