The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Campaign train rolled through the North Central geopolitical zone on Monday, September 28, 2026, during which it drew a massive turnout of party stalwarts, supporters, and citizens from across the six States comprising the zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for a high-stakes Town Hall Meeting hosted in Nasarawa State.
The well-attended gathering served as a vital platform for robust deliberations on critical regional hurdles and overarching national challenges as attendees robustly voiced pressing concerns affecting their communities, thereby laid bare the socioeconomic and security realities facing everyday Nigerians, especially in the zone.
At the Town Hall Meeting, the APM Presidential Candidate and Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, accompanied by his running mate, Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura, declared that he is determined to reset Nigeria’s economy within four years if elected as President in 2027 general elections.
He particularly assured of his determination and commitment towards reforming Nigeria’s socio-political system if elected into office in 2027, thus urged the citizens to ensure that they obtain their permanent voter cards and support the movement to rebuild the country.
Makinde noted with concern that over the years, the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government only succeeded in destabilizing the country with policies that succeeded in inflicting severe level of hardship and sufferings on the citizens.
He said that the 2027 presidential election will not be determined by the amount a flag bearer would spend to get the support of the electorates, a choice of good from bad leadership.
Makinde expressed confidence that the citizens will vote based on their convictions, particularly against the backdrop of the hunger, insecurity, unemployment, excessive taxation, hyper-inflation amongst others.
He further said; “The 2027 general election will not be determined by pundits or by the number of billionaires you have in your corner, or how much billion you have to spend. The election will be determined by the people of Nigeria”.
Governor Makinde also said that Nigeria will only achieve sustainable development through issue-based politics and a leadership committed to constitutional democracy.
The APM Presidential flag bearer assured that he would overhaul the education sector of the country by addressing the challenge of out-of-school children through reliable data and targeted interventions.
He said that it is not rocket science to make things work in the country if leaders are committed and willing to serve the people as against promoting their personal interests.
In the words of Makinde; “After all, we had somebody who was head of state in this country for 10 months, and he was able to end military rule and usher in the democracy that we now enjoy in Nigeria.
“So, we can reset this country and give Nigeria a new security architecture, reset and give the country a new path for education, reset the economy by utilizing accurate data, science, and logic, and reset the socio-political environment in four years. That is our agenda,” he stated.
Having actively listened and cataloged the feedback presented, the APM Presidential flagbearer gave a solemn assurance that the voices of the North Central people would not merely be heard, but institutionalized, and promised that the feedback gathered from the grassroots would directly shape and define the party’s official manifesto.
Speaking in turn, the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle described the current security challenges in the country as worrisome, stressing that if the Presidential Candidate of the party, Engineer Seyi Makinde is elected in 2027, the issue of kidnapping and banditry will become a thing of the past.
Dantalle appealed to the electorates in Nasarawa and other states in the North Central geopolitical zone to support the candidacy of Makinde who has the vision to reset Nigeria on the right path for the good of all.
Earlier in his remarks, the APM Governorship Candidate for Nasarawa State, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, promised to mobilize support for Makinde in order to ensure his landslide victory during the 2027 presidential election.
Onawo said that the time to reset Nigeria has come, adding that with Engineer Makinde on the driver’s seat, the country would witness the needed change in education, health, security, economy, infrastructure and improved welfare of Nigerians.
Following the successful town hall meeting, Makinde and Lawal Daura led their entourage on a royal courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia and members of his traditional council, who welcomed the delegation with a warm and prestigious reception.
During the visit, Governor Makinde told the Emir of his commitment and determination to reset Nigeria having diagnosed the deep-seated challenges currently confronting the nation.
The Presidential candidate also outlined his team’s strategic, pragmatic blueprint for national recovery, economic prosperity and sustainable development.
Responding, the Emir lauded the presidential candidates for their political resilience, unwavering dedication, and passion for the country, just as he acknowledged and commended Governor Makinde’s impressive governance track record and visible developmental strides in Oyo State.
