Oyo State Governor, Mr. Oluseyi Makinde on Thursday, May 14, 2026, formally declared his intention to contest the presidential election in 2027 on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Makinde made the declaration at a political rally held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, amid growing political realignments in the state.
This is coming against the backdrop of internal divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde said; “I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
