2027 Polls: Peter Obi Dismisses ‘Partyless’ Presidential Campaign Poster
- We’re focused on people’s welfare not elections – POMR
A group that goes with the name, Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has dismissed as a “figment of lazy people’s imagination” a purported 2027 presidential campaign poster featuring their principal and the Labour Party (LP) Standard bearer in the 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The contentious poster has the former Anambra State governor pencilled down as Vice Presidential candidate to former President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki
Curiously, the said poster, with no Party’s emblem or logo on it, has the slogan “Let’s Restore Our Country Back, Come 2027.”
In a statement reacting to the development, Spokesman for POMR, Yunusa Tanko said; “It’s just people’s imagination. There’s no hint of a presidential run, but we’re working for the good of the people.”
Tanko urged members of the “Obi-dient Movement”, admirers of the former Anambra governor, supporters of the Labour Party and members of public to ignore what he described as the “machinations of mischief makers” bent on distracting Nigerians from the present economic hardship caused by President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
Meanwhile, Senator Saraki, a former two-term governor of Kwara State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
On his part, having left the PDP in the prior to the 2023 presidential poll, Obi is still remains a member of the Labour Party for now and has repeatedly maintained focusing on having a ‘new Nigeria’s, which is possible (PO).
Recalled also that the group had in one of its media statements said; “The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) wishes to outrightly dismiss trending fake and fallacious news story suggesting that he was parting ways with the Labour Party.
“This is not true and it did not originate from Obi or the Obi-dient Movement but from mischief makers bent on sowing the seed of discord in the party.”
