Former Governor of Edo State and lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, says former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governor Peter Obi do not stand a chance against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Oshiomhole, who spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said having been defeated in previous elections on a joint ticket and individually, Atiku and Obi would lose again in the 2027 presidential polls.

According to the former Edo governor, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has all it takes to sweep aside any challenge that would come from Atiku and Obi in 2027

Hear him, “Did Atiku not run with Obi before and contested against the APC. Were they not defeated?

“Throw any number you want to throw. The point is that when these two ran together, they were roundly defeated by the APC”.

Making further boast about the electoral formidability of President Tinubu and the APC, Senator Oshiomhole stated, “They have a history of being defeated together and they have a history of being defeated apart. So, if they come back together, they will still be defeated.”

Speaking on permutations that the 2027 political landscape could be significantly different from what transpired in 2019 or 2023, Senator Oshiomhole maintained that the opposition figures have drastically lost public momentum, thereby incapable of posing a real challenge to President Tinubu.
He described former Vice President Atiku as “a serial political contestant and loser”, noting that his repeated attempts to return to power had only weakened his credibility among the Nigerian electorate.
“Buhari had three million more votes than his runner-up because I was the chairman by 2019. Check the figures. So that is not correct. By 2019, how many governors did APC have? By 2023, how many governors did we have?

During the February 2023 Presidential election, Atiku was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Obi was the Labour Party (LP) flag bearer.

Their combined votes of over 12 million saw the two opposition leaders, now members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, placing second and third, respectively, in the election that produced Bola Tinubu as the president.
