6,000 Card Reader Machines For Anambra Guber Poll
Over 6,000 card reader machines will be deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure smooth conduct of the November 18, 2017 Anambra governorship election.
The Commission’s Administrative Secretary in Anambra, Mr Charles Mbanaja said this on Tuesday with assurances to stakeholders that INEC is ready to provide a level playing ground for in all candidates in the elections.
Mbanaja said 5,000 of these machines have so far been tested and found to be in good shape and working condition for the polls.
The INEC Administrative Scribe, who urged politicians in the state to play by the rules, explained that the Commission had embarked on public enlightenment campaign aimed at sensitising the people on the electoral processes, especially the voting system to address re-occurring cases of invalid votes and other related electoral shortcomings during the election.
Mbanaja, who spoke with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka, said the Commission had also organised a voters’ education forum, which was attended by stakeholders in the electoral process in a bid to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
He urged the people of Anambra State to cooperate with INEC to ensure the election was hitch free, free, fair and acceptable.
