The House of Representatives has declared the purported launch of Nigeria Air during the dying days of the immediate past administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a complete fraudulent scheme.

Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, who stated the position of the House on Tuesday, specifically said that the launch of Nigeria Air was nothing but a fraud.

He stressed that the matter was made worse after major stakeholders in the deal between the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines denied knowledge of the launch.

The Ministry of Aviation had attempted to clarify the situation, saying that the Nigeria Air was merely unveiled and not officially launched.

However, the committee promptly dismissed the vague explanation as an attempt to divert attention from the real matter.

The committee members were particularly stunned when the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), disclosed that the aircraft adorned with Nigerian colours was on a chartered flight to Nigeria.

This was as other stakeholders involved in the aviation industry affirmed the possibility of painting a chartered flight in any desired colour and displaying any desired inscriptions.

The House Committee on Aviation therefore vowed to carry a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the launch of the aircraft.
