Another five of the over 120 students and the matron of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna State, kidnapped in July, regained their freedom on Friday evening.

The latest development now leaves four of the students still being held in the kidnappers’ den after more than three months in captivity.

Confirming the release of the five students and matron in a statement made available to newsmen, President of Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Reverend Israel Akanji, expressed gratitude to God for their safe return.

Rev Akanji, who expressed optimism that the remaining four students would soon be released, said; “Glory be to God. Five of our Bethel Baptist High School students and the matron, making six, have just been released to us this evening, October 8, 2021.

“We thank God and trust that the remaining four students will also be released. Thank you for your prayers and support.”

Recalled that the abductors, who initially demanded N60 million as ransom, have been freeing the students in batches since the incident took place in early July this year.
