Abductors Free Kidnapped Nasarawa Info Commissioner, Yakubu

After spending four days in the kidnappers’ den, freedom has finally come the way of abducted Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Nasarawa State, Hon. Mohammed Lawal Yakubu

Cheering of the Commissioner’s release was confirmed on Friday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramhan Nansel.

He said the development was against the backdrop of sustained pressure on the kidnappers and robust collaboration among the combined team of security agencies that handled the case.

According to DSP Nansel, the freed Commissioner was immediately rushed to an undisclosed medical facility in the State for proper medical checks.

The Police Spokesperson further said Lawal will be reunited with his family after undergoing appropriate medical checks, adding that security surveillance has been beefed up in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State following the rising waves of insecurity across the area.

A gang of unknown gunmen had abducted the Commissioner at his residence in Nasarawa Eggon on Monday, August 15, 2022 at about 9:45 pm, thereby putting the security agencies on their trail.
