Adamawa Commences COVID-19 Vaccination Next Monday
BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – Following receipt of 59,280 doses of the Aztrazeneca Coronavirus vaccine, the Adamawa State Government said that it is set to kick-off vaccination on Monday, March 15, 2021.
Secretary to the State Government, Mallam Bashir Ahmad, who announce this in Yola while briefing journalists on the receipt of the vaccines from the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, said that the first phase of the vaccines will be administered on front line workers.
He said that the frontline workers include medical and health personnel, police and other security agencies, as well as all those who are involved in the fight against the pandemic.
According to Ahmad; “The first person that will be vaccinated will be a health worker, followed by the governor”.
The SSG said the vaccines have been stored at the storage facility of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
The SSG also said that the State Government has created a portal for residents who are interested in taking the vaccine to register before being vaccinated, adding that the second phase of the vaccination will be administered on those who have underline ailment of all ages while the third phase will accommodate every member of the public.
Ahmad assured that the state government will ensure equitable distribution of the vaccine across the state.
