- Moves to quell fresh violence in Bachama community
In a determined move to prevent fresh attacks on Bachama community in the State, the Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
Reports indicated that Governor Umaru Fintiri issued the order following renewed attacks allegedly planned and carried out by members of the Chobo community.
Reliable sources said this latest violence is coming less than a week after Governor Fintiri convened a security meeting with leaders of both communities in an effort to broker lasting peace between them.
was reliably gathered that when the crisis first erupted a few months ago, Governor Fintiri visited the two warring communities to assess the extent of destruction, which included burnt houses and damaged property.
In his engagement with leaders from both communities, the governor had passionately pleaded with them to sheath their swords and embrace peace in the overall public interest and the State in general.
However, community insiders hinted that the fresh round of violence took place on the night of Sunday, 7th December 2025, when heavily armed attackers invaded Waduku, Rigange, Tingo, and other nearby settlements, overwhelming members of the communities.
According to eyewitness’ account, the assailants were armed with weapons more sophisticated than those carried by the military personnel deployed to maintain peace.
In the process, many residents panicked, fled and deserted their communities, seeking solace in safer locations as gunshots continued to ring out across the affected areas.
Arising from these deadly attacks, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Morris Dankwambo, deployed additional operational personnel to the troubled communities to enforce the curfew and restore order.
Meanwhile, the Police boss has urged the residents to refrain from actions capable of further disrupting the peace and security of the area.
