Adamawa Police Nab 3 Notorious Kidnappers

BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – Respite has come for residents of Wuro Garba and Lugga Villages of Hong Local government area in Adamawa state with the arrest of three notorious kidnappers by operatives of the Police anti-kidnapping squad in the State.

The operatives, attached to Gombi Division of the State Police Command, were acting upon complaints from the residents early this month that they received separate letters threatening them to pay a million Naira each or risk being abducted.

Acting on a tip-off about the criminals’ hideouts on two different occasions, police operatives raided the area and among items recovered include N86,000 Cash; 3 Single Barrel guns; already prepared threat letters; Handsets; and sim cards among others

A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said “upon intelligence report after the tip off, a raid was carried out by the Police which led to the arrest of three suspects, at different times.”

He said among the suspect arrested is 30 years old Adoneja Dauda, a resident of Hubbare Village in Maiha local Government, considered the prime suspect that has been sending out threatening letters to extort innocent residents.

The statement said prior to his arrest, Dauda extorted the sum of 150,000 from one Alhaji Dauda Hassan, a resident of Barkaji Village in Hong Local government with intimidation and threat of kidnapping him if he fails to pay up the amount.

Similarly, the State Police command said it recorded further success by apprehending, Musa Saidu – 26 years; Manu Hussein – 25 years; Hammadu Bello – 22 years who are all residents of Garwayel Village in Hong, Hong Local government area.

According to the Command, the suspects sometimes in the month of March, 2021 kidnapped Alhaji Yahaya Buba; Alhaji Sure; and Alhaji Muhammed Bello, all of Konto Village in Gombi local government area of the state.

Reacting to the cheering news of his men’s exploits, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji commended officers and men of Gombi Division for safeguarding the public space and making it difficult for criminals to escape arrest in the area.

He therefore directed that the all suspects should immediately be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.
