While the State is yet to get over attacks on Bokkos Local Government in which over 50 persons were believed to have been killed, another deadly attack has claimed the lives of 49 people in Kwall District in Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Sunday night attacks also left many seriously injured in Zike and Kimakpa communities of Kwall District, thereby leaving residents in deep sorrow as survivors recounted the terrifying events.

In what appeared a planned attack, homes were destroyed in the violent strike.

Danjuma Dickson Auta, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), who confirmed the attack during a phone conversation said that an attack on Zike, Kimakpa community in Kwall District of Irigwe Chiefdom claimed 47 persons with many seriously injured.

Auta also said that the nature of the attack points to a carefully organized and deliberate assault on the community.

As at the time of this report, no official statement had been issued by either the Police Command in Plateau State or the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) about the killings.

This latest incident follows another recent attack in Bokkos Local Government Area on April 2, where more than 50 people reportedly lost their lives.

The spate of killings have raised serious concerns about the current security situation in the State and called to question the action of the Federal Government in addressing insecurity in the Plateau State in particular and the country at large.

This is as leaders within the affected communities have continued to task the government and security agencies on the urgent need to move decisively and put an end to the bloodshed.

They opined that if quick and drastic action is not taken to stem the barbaric killings of unarmed innocent citizens, it could lead to eruption of violence which could destabilise peace efforts in the state and the country at large.
