PDP Governors’ Forum Meets In Ibadan, Considers Crucial Matters

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum met on Monday, April 14, 2025 held a crucial meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to resolve some of the crisis bedevilling the party.

The meeting which was hosted by the Governor Seyi Makinde, held at the Oyo State Governor’s Office in Ibadan

is part of the moves by the governors to foster unity, resolve lingering crisis and strategize on reinforcing the PDP’s commitment to good governance and national progress.

The Ibadan gathering brought together the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, Governors of Adamawa, Bayelsa State, Enugu, Osun, Taraba State and Zamfara State while Akwa Ibom and Delta States were represented by their deputies.

The meeting was equally attended by the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb Iliya Umar Damagum, was invited by the Forum to brief it on happenings within the Party.

A source at the meeting confided in Forefront News that the Governors deliberated on pressing national issues and strategic party matters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The source further said; “One of the top issues on the agenda is the ongoing discuss surrounding the position of the PDP’s National secretaryship after the judgement of the Supreme Court on the disputed position.

“The meeting is also considering the demand for the expulsion of Mr Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister”.

It was gathered that the governors are expected to also review the implications of the Supreme Court ruling, which has sparked varied interpretations among party stakeholders, and chart a unified path forward to strengthen the PDP’s internal democracy and leadership structure.

The meeting is also expected to focus on repositioning the PDP as the preferred choice for Nigerians in 2027.

A communique that will capture the resolutions of the meeting is expected at the end of the meeting.
