Again, Gunmen Storm Benue Community, Kill Nine Persons

BY OSBERT TOR-NAJIME, MAKURDI – Gunmen on Friday stormed Agan community in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue killing nine persons on the process.

One of the representatives of the community, Terkimbi Shom, told newsmen it is difficult to explain where the deadly gunmen came from and attacked unarmed people.

In the words of troubled Shom; “These attacks are becoming too much and too frequent. This is the second time in less than three weeks that the attackers launched attacks on our community.

“We hardly can sleep well nowadays for fear of attacks. It is getting out of hands. How can an unarmed community be subject of attacks always?

“We are calling on the Federal Government to consider us as citizens of Nigeria and send security operatives to our area to safeguard our lives and property.”

The Beue State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Sewuese Anene confirmed the attack, saying that the personnel of the command are working to track and apprehend the gunmen.
