The then Governor General of Ghana known at that time as Gold Coast, Sir Charles Arden – Clarke was deeply troubled on February 9, 1951. His pain was what to do with a 41-year-old Kwame Nkrumah who had won a national election from detention.
Nkrumah, who was the leader of the popular Convention Peoples Party was not a criminal. His crime was his determined and courageous efforts of liberating his country from the claws of colonial administration. For that he was framed up and sentenced to prison. But his people disagreed. They voted him to power while he was still serving a three-year jail term, becoming the first man in recorded history to win election while in jail, thus he was freed because the British authorities never knew what to do with him.
Nelson Mandela, who eventually emerged as South Africa’s president in April 1994, was rudely sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964 where he stayed for the next quarter of a century. He went from prison to palace, after surviving a notorious blackmail and mindless propaganda. His travails are clearly documented in his book, Long Walk to Freedom.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is not just a Nigerian father-figure, he is an international personality. Those who never agreed with his socioeconomic and political views quickly conspired against him, set him up in a fathom coup plot, found him guilty, and sentenced him to prison.
His offence was his strong stand against the dictatorial regime of the late General Sani Abacha, who died suddenly, and in few months time, Obasanjo was elected Nigeria’s president.
Taken together, all of Nkrumah, Mandela and Obasanjo were victims of a well orchestrated propaganda, propelled by satanic minds. This is the case of His Excellency, The Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, Omenkeahuruanya.
Given Ihedioha’s capacity, courage, competence and character, those who cannot favourably compete with him now event all sorts of unsubstantiated allegations against him. They accuse him of things he knew nothing about just to damage his reputation.
Since Ihedioha’s meteoric rise in 2003 following his election as member representing Aboh Mbaise, Ngor Okpala in the House of Representatives, through his emergence as deputy speaker, to his attainment as the Imo State governor in 2019, he has always been falsely persecuted.
Between 2003 and 2015, his traducers accused him of arrogance and nepotism. Yet, there has been no politician in Imo State who is more tolerable than Ihedioha and there is none who has stood more on equity, fairness and justice than him.
In 2019, the allegation against Ihedioha was stinginess and lack of respect for elders. Throughout the electioneering and moments after winning the governorship election, Ihedioha demonstrated high scale of openness towards empowering the people even as he showed sincere affection to Imo leaders and elders through his recognition of Imo Council of Elders.
And, since 2023, Ihedioha’s attackers have changed their charge – sheet against him. The hackers now invented and rolled out a new plot against the former governor of the state. They have since been sowing the seed of discord between His Excellency, Peter Obi and Ihedioha. This is aimed at smearing the image and integrity of the erstwhile deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
Obi is certainly the most popular and most admired politician in Nigeria and he is Igbo. Therefore, to discredit Ihedioha as well as malign him in order to destroy him politically, particularly as 2027 is around the corner, his ruthless attackers are using Obi’s name in their conspiracy against Ihedioha. But this cannot work because Obi practically understands his relationship with Ihedioha.
As it is, Ihedioha’s opponents had gone through his files from 2003 till now and discovered that he is clean and decent, thus dragging him to the EFCC will never produce any tangible result they are looking for.
In view of that, they decided to tag him an Obi enemy. By this wicked act, they want to portray him as an Igbo enemy number one. That is, one fighting his people and their 2027 presidential aspirations.
Ihedioha’s traducers are painting Ihedioha black for nothing sake order than he is politically superior to them. Sadly, they are at the crossroads because Ihedioha is bigger than them.
The fact remains that Ihedioha is not working against Obi or working for His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. Ihedioha is an Obi supporter, an Obi ally and an Obi promoter. One person that convinced Obi to join ADC was Ihedioha. On January 31, 2026 when Obi finally proclaimed he had moved over to ADC, it was Ihedioha that put the event together. Ihedioha has been making several comments that point to the fact that he aligned with Obi’s presidential aspirations and dreams.
So, it is politically incorrect for Ihedioha’s traducers to always feed the masses with this falsehood of “Ihedioha is against Obi”. This is a lazy man’s analogy. It can no longer go far because its drivers are at the crossroads.
Just like Nkrumah, Mandela and Obasanjo smiled home after their respective undeserved persecutions, so also will Ihedioha triumph at the end of the day.
