BY CHINYERE OBIORA – With hours running into days now, palpable fear and anxiety have gripped the Nigerian film industry with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) raising an alarm over the alleged disappearance of two prominent Nollywood actors and members of the Guild, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, aka Agbogidi.

Disturbing signals that the twosome may have been abducted heightened on Friday when AGN’s Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda released a statement to newsmen on Friday that their whereabouts still remain unknown.

According to her, Chinda, both actors have been reported missing after family members confirmed they were yet to return from a film location at Ozalla Town, located in Enugu state and there has been no communication with them.

The statement said; “The two members were suspected of having been kidnapped, which has increased fear amongst members about the safety of actors filming in the country.

“Because of this sad development, the National President of the Guild, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has instructed all Actors to avoid going to the outskirt of cities to film except full security cover is provided to ensure their safety”.

While expressing shock at the development, the AGN President urged the security agencies to speed up investigations that would lead to the Actors’ safe rescue and reuniting with their families.

Also, Mr Rollas appealed to all members of the Guild to pray for the safe return of the missing actors.
