Aisha Buhari Kicks As Police Keep Mum Over Detained Aides

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – Several hours after the First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, twitted about the reported arrest of some key aides attached to her and demanded their immediate release, mum has remained the reaction from the Police High command.
Competent sources hinted that the sensitive nature of the issue at stake is largely responsible for the foot dragging by the Police to officially comments or act on the First Lady’s demands.
Showing displeasure about the development in her twitter message on Friday, the First Lady urged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Adamu Mohammed to immediately order the release of her close security details.
Aisha’s post, which came after a series of COVID-19 tweets on a day that Nigeria observed the Democracy Day, reads: “…Finally, I call on the IGP to release my assigned Staff who are still in the custody of the Police in order to avoid putting their lives in danger or exposure to Covid-19 while in their custody.”
The media has been awash with reports that some key aides attached to the First Lady were arrested and taken away by unidentified security operatives, most likely from the Nigerian Police
Though there has been no official comments on the incident leading to the arrest and detention of the aides, media reports and even claims by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) indicate it might not be unconnected with the reported shooting and security breaches within the precincts of the Presidential villa following claims of a degenerated squabble among family members and officials of the Buhari Presidency.
According to sources quoted by the various reports, family members of Mr President were at the scene of the alleged assault against one of his aides, during which the First Lady’s security details allegedly resorted to the use of firearms..
