Ajayi’s Era Begins As DSS Drops Spokesman Afunanya
- Yet to get new posting
After about a decade on the saddle as spokesperson of the Department of State Services (DSS), Peter Afunanya, has been relieved of the appointment.
The development follows Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi’s appointment as the new Director General of DSS and his promise to refocus the Service towards covertness and likelihood of studied silence over certain matters.
Afunanya, who was the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the DSS National Headquarters, Abuja, spoke of his reassignment at a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
The immediate past image maker of the Nation’s Secret Police, who did not revealed where his next duty tour would be, however expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the country in that role for the past 10 years.
Also pledging his commitment to the covert security outfit and the country, Afunanya pledged to always do his best in whatever capacity he is assigned to serve in future.
He said nothing would distract his focus and dedication to serving Nigeria with “love, loyalty, honour, and glory.”
Meanwhile, on assuming office last week, the newly appointed DSS helmsman, Oluwatosin Ajayi had conveyed his resolve to effectively tackle existing and emerging challenges confronting Nigeria’s economic, political, and security environments going forward.
He assured that his time at the Secret Police would herald robust partnership with relevant stakeholders and deep sense of responsibility towards achieving peace and stability necessary for national development.
