The family of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has described their son as a compassionate, and dedicated leader who put his best foot forward in the service of Ondo State and humanity.
In expressing profound sorrow at the peaceful passing of their revered patriarch, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN, CON), the family noted that he was “esteemed as a courageous, compassionate, and dedicated leader”.
Using the opportunity to officially confirm that Akeredolu peacefully departed in his sleep while undergoing medical treatment for an enduring struggle with prostate cancer at a hospital in Germany, the family said; “Our hearts are heavy with grief as we bid farewell to a beloved father, grandfather, and an exceptional leader”.
According to the family; “Akeredolu, served as a beacon of strength and progress in Ondo State, renowned for his unwavering dedication to the betterment of the state and its people. His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of many who were touched by his leadership and compassion”.
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Jnr, who spoke on behalf of the bereaved family, stated thus; “Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has left an indelible mark on our lives and the legacy of our state.
“As the family navigates the immense loss, we seek solace in the belief that Governor Akeredolu continues his journey guided by benevolent forces, transitioning to an eternal realm following his impactful sojourn on Earth.
“In this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone offering unwavering support and solidarity.
“We kindly ask for your prayers and understanding, requesting privacy as we mourn. Daddy, may your soul find eternal peace”.
Meanwhile, the family further disclosed that in collaboration with the State Government, they will communicate details about the funeral arrangements in due course.
It added that going forward, the arrangements will be made to accommodate and provide an opportunity for the people and well wishers to pay their respects and honour the life and achievements of Governor Akeredolu.
