All Appointments Adhere To Federal Character Principle – FG Says

The Federal Government on Friday, April 11, 2025, declared that all appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are made in strict adherence to federal character principle, as enshrined in Section 14 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Altered).

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, who stated the position of the government while addressing trending insinuations particularly on social media, regarding the composition of Federal appointments, refuted claims of lopsidedness in appointment.

He did not however provided details to buttress his point of arguments, but emphasized what he described as the “unwavering commitment” of the government to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity.

A statement by the SGF signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated that it is notable to mention that President Tinubu believes strongly in the unity of Nigeria and is guided by the ideals of fairness and tenets of justice in all appointments.

The statement further said; “This Administration is dedicated to ensuring that all regions and demographics of the country are adequately represented in its institutions and agencies”.

The SGF therefore, urged the public to disregard what it described as “unfounded speculations” and rely on official Government sources for accurate information.

The SGF assured that the Government remains steadfast in its pursuit of a prosperous, united and equitable Nigeria, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of this Administration. He further said; “Pokers of embers of hate and disunity who carry tendentious and unfounded allegations should never be taken seriously by Nigerians.

The statement said that inquiries with respect to the matter can be channeled through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation which is the official custodian of such appointments.
