Allegation Of Fraud: Gov. Sule Set To Reshuffle Cabinet
…As House od Assembly investigates another aide
BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Barring unforeseen circumstances, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State is set to reshuffle his cabinet that may witness some of his appointees being dropped in the coming weeks.
Investigations by our correspondents revealed that Governor Sule’s decision is due to observed lapses in the discharge of government activities by some functionaries who have been either indicted or found wanting by the State House of Assembly.
Sources said that Governor Sule is worried by the development and will therefore hold a special meeting with government officials and political appointees to find the way out and issue warnings.
One of the observed lapses has to do with the Senior Special Assistant on Development Control tothegovernor, Arc. Stanley Buba, who is alleged to have given approvals without recourse to the law establishing the Nasarawa Urban Development Board (NUDB).
The House set up a six man investigative committee to investigate alleged fraud and insubordination by Buba and called for his suspension to pave way for proper investigation on the activities of the state NUDB.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe said the decision by the House on the need for Buba to step aside is to ensure thorough investigation on the activities of the NUDB in the state.
The State legislature had four months ago also passed a resolution calling for the sack of the former Secretary to the State Government, Mr Aliyu Tijjani over alleged fraud in the N1 billion education contract.
Other government officials investigated by the Assembly are the Nasarawa Local Government chairman, Sani Ottos and the deputy chairman of Karu Local Government, Mr Lawal Karshi for insubordination.
Similarly, the state chairman of the Universal Education Board, Mr Muhammed Dan’Azumi
also appeared before the House of Assembly committee on Education to answer questions
on primary school contracts.
Governor Sule had during his inauguration as well as the swearing–in ceremony of his cabinet in November 2019, promised to ensure probity and accountability in his administration.
