Horror At UniJos: Headless Body Found On Campus

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – A horrifying discovery shattered the peace at the University of Jos permanent site in Plateau State early on Tuesday morning when a headless body of an unidentified individual was discovered on the campus grounds, leaving the institution’s authorities scrambling for answers.

Reports indicated that with the victim’s severed head was taken away by the assailant(s), panic gripped the University community, triggering immediate outrage and fear among students and staff.

According to reliable sources, the headless corpse, discovered on the campus farmland, is suspected to be that of a farmer who lives around the vicinity and both the students and staff have been left in a state of great shock.

Confirming the incident to reporters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, some staff and students of the university, who were seen gathering in small groups to discuss the horrific development, hinted that the deceased was neither a student nor a staff member of the university.

According to the institution’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr Agama Tangni, “I can confirm to you that somebody was beheaded here. He is not a student, nor is he a staff member of the university.”

He said the victim’s identity was known because he regularly the location, adding: “The identity of the deceased is known because the particular spot where he was beheaded is where he used to come for farming. He usually comes there very early in the morning.”

Disclosing that preliminary indications pointed to a targeted attack, Mr Tangni said, “I don’t know whether the assailants have been monitoring him, but from the look of things, the attackers targeted him, beheaded him and went away with his severed head.”

He said the deceased’s relatives had been notified and that the body had been deposited at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, saying: “The relations of the deceased are aware, and his corpse has been taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital.”

Also, Tangni said the University management had been briefed on the development and would communicate further with the university community.

“The University of Jos is already aware of the unfortunate incident, and they are going to send a memo or pass information to all the platforms of the institution,” he said.

Though the University authorities are said to be concerned and have activated an internal investigation on the unfortunate incident, the Plateau State Police Command is yet to issue a formal statement regarding the development and when our correspondent attempted to reach Police Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred for comment, repeated calls to his line failed to connect.

Meanwhile, institutional authorities are taking no chances as the investigation unfolds, even as the university management has swiftly deployed additional security personnel to fortify the permanent site, ensuring the immediate safety of the campus community while working to uncover the exact cause of the unfortunate event.
