Alleged N400bn Discovery: EFCC Denies Raiding Tinubu’s Residence
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports of its operatives raiding the residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and recovering about N400 billion cash stockpile.
A statement signed by the Commission Head, Media, and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren on Sunday described as untrue claims that the former Lagos State governor’s house was raided by the anti-graft agency and a humongous sum of N400 billion discovery made.
The EFCC’s spokesperson said in the statement; “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a report circulating in the social media, claiming that operatives of the Commission raided the home of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the forthcoming presidential elections and recovered a humongous sum of N400 billion.
“The Commission wishes to state that no such operation was carried out by the EFCC. The public is enjoined to disregard the report as fake news.”
